The Second 50

Over the years, I’ve been posting on multiple social media platforms. Sometimes daily, sometimes not.

I like the idea of social engagement. But a couple of things have done me in.

By using these platforms, I am willingly handing over my content to the platform owners. They are interrogating my content and actions to sell me things. They control what I see and who I engage with. They also promote content that I’m not interested in, despite my best efforts to game the platforms.

So I’m trying something new. Going “social media off grid”, I guess you could call it. I’m experimenting with a new platform. Decentralised. Federated. Straightforward. Where I own and control what I post and what I see. And I don’t get punished for not posting each day.
