Times, they are a changin’

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Remember back in the day when the shops closed at 12 noon on a Saturday. During winter, my parents would buy the large weekend broadsheet newspaper, a couple of pies, and relax in front of the television and heater to watch the football ‘game of the round’ – the only one televised that weekend.

Life moves faster these days. Shops open 7 days a week, Saturdays are packed with errands, school sport and house chores, news is available online, and football isn’t confined to just Saturday afternoons. It’s on 3-4 days over the week, and between free to air and pay TV, you can watch every game live.

Saturdays certainly look different now.

Relax well, friends.
