I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can improve my focus and well-being.
Life is so busy that it requires a combination of strategies to help manage distractions, build mental endurance, and increase self-awareness.
Here is what I’m doing or exploring.
- Setting my goals and priorities – I make a daily to-do list.
- Eliminating distractions by choosing a quiet, comfortable space. Yesterday I studied outside in the sun!
- Breaking tasks into smaller chunks so I can avoid feeling overwhelmed.
- Learning mindfulness: Reducing mind-wandering is a big focus for me this year.
- I’ve been reading about the Pomodoro Technique: Working in focused 25-minute increments, followed by a 5-minute break, to maintain concentration and avoid burnout. I’m keen to try this out in the coming weeks.
- Limit digital distractions: Turn off notifications, log out of social media, to minimize interruptions. I need to get better at this, but I have focused more recently on spending less time on socials and more time with reflective practice via my blog!
- Regular physical activity and breaks can help recharge your mental energy. I’m introducing hiking into my routine.
- Get enough sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep to ensure your brain is well-rested and prepared for focused work. I generally get 7 hrs a night, so I’m just hitting the mark.
- Stay hydrated and energized: I take my supplements to ensure I’m maintaining gut, brain, and body health. I try to drink plenty of water and maintain a balanced diet to support cognitive function.

I know being focused takes time and practice. I’m definitely a work in progress.
I hope some of these tips resonate with you too.
Go well, friends.
